Our Very Hungry Caterpillar Turns One

Today was Liam's first birthday party. Many of our friends and family members came to share in his special day. Because he loves to eat, we chose The Very Hungry Caterpillar as the theme for his party. I believe his favorite part was the birthday cake. Our friend Heather made the cakes.

She made one large cake with buttercream frosting and used fondant to make some of the foods from the book.


Liam had his own cake. There was a small red cake for the caterpillar's head and 7 little green cupcakes for his body.


After opening a few presents, Liam was NOT happy to sit in his chair at the table. He wanted to play with the new toys. But, we buckled him in and set the cake in front of him.


He cried until I put frosting on my finger and put it in his mouth. He liked it and wanted the cake immediately so more crying.


He sat quietly and a bit confused while we lit the candle and sang happy birthday.




Then we let him have the cake. He wasted no time at all.
